26 May 2012 TIiA Session Announcement

Date:  Sat 26 May 2012
Time: 1:30-4pm
Place:  Member Christine Hsu's house (Thank you, Christine!)

Christine's apartment building is a 2-3 min walk from LiuZhangLi MRT Station (on the brown line), on the same side of Keelung Rd. There's only 1 exit at this MRT station, so you can't get lost!  After you register, you'll be sent the exact address...

Topic: What country is this?
--University places taken by women = 65%
--Women as a paid percentage of the work force = 13%
--the UK govt advises British citizens NOT to travel there
--the US govt suggests American citizens "carefully consider the risks" before traveling there

It's Iran. TIiA member Yvonne recently traveled there, and we are lucky enough, in this next session, to have her share her experiences and photos.

Optional preparation:  Find out some more information about Iran.

For planning purposes, please register for this session by 12 noon on Fri 25 May. Thanks! It would be great to see you!

Cheers
Lynn

After Christine leads us in an Icebreaker, we'll tell each other about some recent news that's related to Taiwan. It's always interesting to hear what different people choose! And you never know what possible actions may come of it...

Preparation:
Please bring a short news article somehow related to Taiwan. The article can be in Chinese OR English, but of course we'll discuss it in English. :) A good source of English news articles can be found by googling Taiwan news. There's lots of interesting news!

Lynn
